There were many effects that were caused by the Vietnam War. These effects included the health impact on both U.S. combat troops and Vietnamese civilians, and the public's disapproval of the war. Back in the United States, there were many anti-war protests being held. These protest were mainly held on college and university campuses and lead by students and later Vietnam vets.
These issues were social, political, and economic issue. The war was a social issue because people in the United States disapproved of the conflict. Men that received their draft letter fled to Canada, escaping their call into service. Eventually, these anti-war would become violent, like the Kent State Shooting, were the Ohio National Guard fired on a group of students, killing four and injuring nine. Out of the four killed, only two were part of the protest, while the other two were on their way to class.
The political side of this issue is the fear that communism would spread, like mentioned earlier.
The economic side of the issue was the fact that the entire war cost the United States $168.1 billion dollars, again like mentioned earlier.
